Mozilla BrowserID Promises Single-Sign-On Master Password

Mozilla Labs has announced a new way for users to havesingle-sign-on using a single email address as a common account identifyon the Internet. The new idea is called BrowserID and it could somedayprevent you from having different user accounts and passwords for everysite that you visit. BrowserID is a decentralized identity system thatmakes it possible for users to prove ownership of email addresses in asecure manner, without requiring per-site passwords. BrowserID is hopedto ultimately become an alternative to the tradition of ad-hocapplication-level authentication based on site-specific user-names andpasswords.
